Every local knows to go to Thai Lao if you’re in the mood for Thai food in Myrtle Beach. It’s true: the best Thai food in Myrtle Beach is Thai Lao. In case the two exclamation points (we are different!!) didn’t convince you, this instagram post will. Commenters chimed in with recommendations and in solidarity that Thai Lao is the place to go.
I’ll warn you: it’s not fancy. In fact, that’s part of the charm. The food and service are the stars in this hole-in-the-wall spot.
Let’s chat about the menu.
Menu at Thai Lao Myrtle Beach
The menu at Thai Lao is pretty extensive with 82 (!!) options ranging from stir fry dishes, Thai Curry (Massaman, Yellow, Red, Green, Panang), 6 fried rice entrees (pineapple is delicious!), Thai Noodles, Thai soups, salads, and 14 appetizers.
My go-to order is the Chicken Red Curry. It’s sweet and spicy with a hint of coconut.
When I find a dish at a restaurant that I love, your chances of convincing me to order something new is about a 2 on a scale of 1 – 100. Last weekend, I gritted my teeth and ordered the “mixed vegetable stir-fry with chicken, and could you make it spicy please?” instead of my years-old, tried-and-true Chicken Red Curry order. I was floored. It was amazing.
Here’s the thing: anything you order is going to be delicious. You can get stuck on one dish (like I tend to do) or try something new each time. Either way, this will be your go-to spot for Thai food.
