GW may have been a model of a modern major general, won our freedom in the American Revolution, founded our country, became President and said “no thanks” to being a monarch, then retired instead of remaining President for another term… but I’m most impressed with the timeless and gorgeous interior of his home, Mount Vernon. If you took out the hordes of tourists marching through the halls, it would be a cozy home with a killer view that would be as sophisticated in 2024 as it was in 1794.
Seriously, the green room in Mount Vernon is spectacular.
