The other week, when our children were in a distant land called Grandparent Camp, we went on a day date. Will and I are the kind of planners that prefer to not have much of a plan. We had no idea what exactly we were going to do in Conway, South Carolina on a random Saturday. I’m not sure I even wore makeup. My point is: I put zero thought or effort into the planning of this excursion.
It turned out to be the most fun day date we’ve had since Before Covid.
Wine on a porch at Encore Floral + Gifts
Once we landed in downtown Conway, we hopped out and immediately discovered Encore Floral + Gifts. which has a killer gift shop with a mix of antiques and Julie Vos jewelry and pretty accessories for your home and a LOT OF WINE. Shelves and shelves and a cooler full of wine, which you can purchase and open and sip on the porch. By the way, the home is one of the oldest in Conway and Jeff the owner is delightful. We rocked on the front porch sipping wine and had the BEST time.
Then, we decided to walk around downtown and browsed some of the local shops before heading to the Crooked Oak Tavern bar to order dinner.
Afternoon bites + wine at Crooked Oak Tavern
Crooked Oak Tavern is a gem in the Myrtle Beach area. First of all, the bar is a cool spot for a glass of wine or bourbon. Just about every bourbon and whiskey you’d like to try is on the wall of the bar. The menu is fabulous – excellent bourbon-friendly pairings like shrimp and grits or the Dirty Myrtle Burger.
