ISO: the best Hefeweizen
Not that anyone has placed this wanted ad, but I’m here to respond. I’ve done the research and found the best Hefeweizen, for you, dear readers. Aren’t I so very thoughtful?
Hefeweizens are my favorite beer for the summer. Light, refreshing, and a little citrusy – they are a great beer to pair with light, grilled dinners. Also, wings, pizza, pork chops, chocolate, the air and seafood. Hmm. Perhaps it will go with anything.
Anyway, we’ve tried all kinds of Hefeweizens this summer – the Sierra Nevada Kellerweis Hefeweizen, Shiner Hefeweizen, Maisel’s Weisse Original, Franziskaner Weissbier, Harpoon’s UFO, and Harpoon’s White UFO. (Again, research. I am so kind.)
And we narrowed it down to two. The finalists were Franziskaner Weissbier and Maisel’s Weisse Original.
I did a blind taste test last night of both beers, sampling slowly to determine which one is the best.
Drum roll please….
Franciskaner’s light, refreshing with a hint of banana was the winner. Go ahead and get a six pack and enjoy the weekend.
Cheers!
