If you’re going to own one wine book, Wine Folly: The Essential Guide to Wine should be the one you choose. There are many wine books I’d recommend, but this one is essential. Even if you know everything there is to know about wine*, you’ll love this book. And if you are just trying to learn the basics, you’ll love this book.
*If you just nodded your head, let me set you straight: there is always something to learn about wine. Always.
Here’s why: the way it’s written and designed is uncomplicated, easy to digest and enjoyable. It’s an easy-to-pick-up book with topics you actually want to read in an engaging, visual format. The infographic layouts are like a Pinterest board in print.
In other words, there aren’t a lot of words. No pages full of text to skip over until you see a picture.
It’s glorious!
A sample:
Topics include how to taste wine, wine tasting note tips, an overview of styles of wine, and food pairings. Aren’t those topics you want to read? (Of course! A redundant question, I know.) And here’s the thing: the infographic type layout makes it a fun read for anyone to browse. It’s the type of book which does not require a cover-to-cover reading – like Pinterest, you can flip through the pages, read something which piques your interest, and move on to another topic.
Perfect for: Christmas gifts, hostess gifts, the nightstand of your guest room, your coffee table, a gift for your co-worker who mentioned she likes wine, your spouse, your BFF, your neighbor who is constantly chasing after young kids (delivered with a bottle of wine, preferably), the dreaded Secret Santa, and… birthdays. Basically, any person you know would love this book.

Wine Folly: The Essential Guide to Wine is a great way to learn more about wine. (PS – you’ll want the paper edition, it’s a visual book that won’t be as interesting in black & white on a screen!)

You haven’t lived until you have done the candy corn and chardonnay pairing. Speaking of, was that Landmark chardonnay something Jeff can get from Will?
