Mr. B’s Bistro (New Orleans, LA)

Mr. B’s Bistro feels like stepping into 1930s New Orleans. We went for a client dinner and loved the old-school atmosphere, thoughtful service, truffle fries, and jambalaya pasta. Next time, I’m getting the famous BBQ shrimp—bib and all.

We were in town for a work conference (staying at the Sheraton on Canal, about a mile from the convention center) and needed a client-dinner spot. Mr. B’s delivered. It is fancy but reasonably priced, and did not serve up tourist-crap food. This would be at the top of my list for our next visit!

The vibe: old school, classy, felt like we were walking into 1930. Loved the music, the lighting, the decor, the service – and of course, the food.

What we’d order again: Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc — California style, crisp without that New Zealand grassiness I can’t stand — truffle fries for the table, and the jambalaya pasta.

What we’ll order next time: Since this was a work dinner, I skipped the famous BBQ shrimp. It arrives with a bib and a pile of hand wipes. Incredible, I’m sure — but not a client-dinner dish
