Sunday brunch is not just a meal in the South, it’s an experience. The hospitality, menu, live music, and the atmosphere at Local | Eat Drink Celebrate in Pawleys will put this Hammock Shops restaurant at the top of your brunch favorites list.
The atmosphere is cool. Exposed brick walls, live music, pretty natural lighting, and attentive servers make this a fun, leisurely brunch spot. The restaurant offers two 18+ sections, which is nice if you don’t want to dine around kids. If you do bring your kids, you won’t feel guilty sitting in the regular dining spaces!
Start with a local craft beer (or order a cocktail!) The restaurant boasts an excellent list of local beers from New South and Grand Strand Brewing which pair perfectly with the savory Southern menu items.
Next, order an app. We chose boiled peanuts with parmesan as a starter. Why in the world do we not see boiled peanuts on more menus? It’s a southern staple. Local’s boiled peanuts are fancier than your side-of-the-road boiled peanuts and are the perfect for Sunday brunch starter with craft beer.
Next up: red Chile braised chicken tacos. Little tiny bite-sized delicious concoctions that include pickled onions, avocado, and jalapeños are absolutely delightful and not too filling.
It’s time for the main course. Main courses include entree salads, handhelds, brunch, and entrees. Whether you’re in the mood for huevos rancheros, the North Carolina Brasstown Beef grass-fed burger, or the Sunday Friday Chicken, you’ll find the dish to suit your brunchy mood.

Should you skip dessert? Nope. We tried the coconut carrot cake and the chocolate peanut butter tower and both were (not surprisingly) incredibly delicious.
Y’all will love this spot for brunch, lunch, and dinner – the dining areas and the bar make this a fun, social spot to meet friends or for a date night.
