Our Philadelphia Guide: Where We Stayed, Ate + What We Did
What we did, what we loved, and what’s worth your time if you go to Philadelphia
We did not pitch a fit when our flight was canceled in Philadelphia to go back home. We immediately booked a Marriott hotel for the night and a walking tour the next day. Our accidental 24-hour trip to Philadelphia was a blast! It was quick but memorable.
Here’s our one-day Philadelphia itinerary that we would absolutely do again –

YOUR PHILADELPHIA TO DO LIST
here’s what we recommend if you only have a day to explore Philly.
STAY CLOSE TO OLD CITY.
We loved our stay at Philadelphia Marriott Old City.
- Walkable to the historic area, including the Liberty Bell
- Comfortable, spacious rooms
- Fantastic lobby with a bar + food
- M Lounge was stocked with snacks + drinks

BOOK A HISTORIC WALKING TOUR.
we hit the jackpot on our walking tour – there are many options! we loved our guide, Tom, who showed us the highlights, kept the history interesting, and even my 16-year-old thought it was cool. COOL. I am not making that up. 10/10 recommend this!
EAT A PHILLY CHEESESTEAK.
obviously, you need to get the famous sandwich when you’re in town.
