When our flight was canceled and we found ourselves with 24 hours in Philadelphia, we booked our hotel to be close to the historic area (Philadelphia Marriott Old City) , booked a guided walking tour of the historic Philadelphia sites,, and researched the best spot for a Philly cheesesteak. There were a few on the lists from the Internet, but our guide pointed out Campo’s as one of the best in the city – so that’s where we went! And we’ll be back on our next visit – it was SO good.

Why go: When a local Philadelphian recommends one of the best Philly cheesesteaks… that’s where you go. Our guide from the historic walking tour said this was one of his favorites – and he’s tried a lot. He also said the only way to get it is basic – cheese and with or without onions. No other toppings. So we followed orders and were not disappointed!!

What we’d order again: the basic, of course – cheese and grilled onions!
