Part of our Wine Tasting Guide to Napa and Sonoma
If you’re planning a trip to Napa, Mustards Grill deserves a spot at the very top of your list. It’s the kind of place that feels both elevated and wonderfully unfussy — fine dining in a cozy, come-as-you-are atmosphere.
And then there’s the pork chop.
The pork chop.
It’s the reason we’ve gone back again and again.

The Famous Pork Chop

You cannot possibly find a better pork chop, in Napa or anywhere else.
This dish will permanently recalibrate your pork chop expectations.
It’s thick-cut, flame-kissed, perfectly seasoned, and served with braised red cabbage and a bright, zesty sauce that ties the whole plate together. The combination of textures and flavors is magic — rich, tangy, smoky, savory.
It’s one of the best entrées you’ll ever try. Full stop. The hype is real.
Will’s wine pairing rec

With the bold flavors of the pork chop, you need a wine that can meet the moment. Will recommends:
- Jordan Chardonnay – Burgundian style, beautifully balanced, and perfection with the zesty sauce
- Zinfandel – especially one with Sonoma roots; the spice + fruit complement the char of the grill
We love ordering local wines when we’re in Wine Country, and Jordan Chardonnay is almost always our top pick at Mustards. It pairs like it was made for this dish (maybe it was…).
What Else to Order

- Their Negroni is a great way to start the meal
- Their famous onion rings tower
- The French fries as an appetizer
- They have an excellent Caesar salad
- The desserts are worth saving room for
The Vibe + What to Wear
Mustards has that perfect Wine Country energy — relaxed but polished, lively but never loud, full of locals who have been coming for decades and visitors who instantly get why. It’s the kind of place where you can show up after a tasting, order something delicious, and feel like you stumbled into a neighborhood institution.
You can wear wine country casual and fit right in – or you could wear something fancy and fit right in. (We opt for casual!)
