If you’re in the mood for mediocre, skip staying at the Sanctuary on Kiawah Island. It is probably the nicest resort in the state of South Carolina with an enormous lobby overlooking a lawn with ocean views, luxurious rooms, a spa, several golf courses, fine dining, a tennis center, and excellent restaurants.
We were lucky to spend the weekend with Trinchero Family Wine group (my husband sells wine.) Sidenote: One of the most stunning Napa vineyards we visited on our last trip was our tasting at Trinchero Napa Valley. We love their wines – especially Bravium, which you can find on many local menus.
The Sanctuary is an oceanfront resort located on Kiawah Island, which is just south of Charleston.
Pack: Dress up. You’ll need a the best garment bag for this situation because you will want to pack dresses.
Do: Lounge by the pool. Play Pickleball. Catch a shuttle to watch games in the Sports Bar. Go on a bike ride. Relax at the spa. The resort has so many options!
Dine: The Sanctuary has 15 dining options including several restaurants, a cute little ice cream shop, and a coffee shop. We had dinner in the Ocean Room the first night followed by after-dinner drinks in the lobby bar. The next morning, we ordered room service for breakfast (amazing!) We had lunch at Jasmine Porch, and took a shuttle to dinner at the BBQ restaurant.
