I’m not what you’d label as a “cat person,” but my animal-loving daughter’s favorite place in South Carolina is the Purr & Pour Cat Café on Front Street in Georgetown. That’s how I ended up drinking Chardonnay and playing with kittens on a sunny Saturday afternoon.
You pay $10.50 for adults and $6.50 for kids for a one hour cat lounge experience, which includes a drink. You have your choice of coffee, wine, beer, or a mix of drinks in the cooler.
On the day we visited, 14 cats roamed the cat lounge, which is like a playground for felines filled with toys.
All of the cats are adoptable through Saint Frances Animal Center. Cats must be indoor cats, and you cannot declaw them. Adoption fees are $50 or $75 depending on the age. The process takes a few days.
I had a great time – it was definitely a unique experience!
