Y’all. Does This Taste Funny cookbook is a fantastic collection of Lowcountry recipes you can actually make at home.
Let’s be honest… a lot of cookbooks have incredible looking recipes that require complicated steps only a professional chef could execute.
This cookbook is by Charleston natives Stephen and Evie Colbert. It features a collection of their favorite recipes. They enjoy sharing these recipes with friends and family. The best part? These recipes are easy to make!
I love that they include recipes with fresh seafood. They also highlight the best places to pick it up around Charleston.
Of course, up Highway 17 in Murrells Inlet, we have our own favorite spots for local seafood. Places like Seven Seas Seafood are popular.
Two of the recipes are instant family favorites. The first is fried chicken tenders with a crunchy Cornflakes concoction as the batter. The second is a lemon Chicken orzo soup. It will be in constant dinner rotation in our house this fall and winter.
Both of these recipes pair well with a good California Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a white wine that’s not too light for fall. It holds up to hearty dishes like these.
Seafood, cocktails, veggies, and entrees are included in this cookbook. It also features beautiful photos, sweet and funny stories, and seasonal Lowcountry recipes. These elements make it a must-have for any South Carolinian.
