Bon Appétit Loves It—And So Do We: King BBQ in Charleston

Y’all need to visit King BBQ in Charleston.

This place has gotten a lot of buzz – Bon Appetit named it one of the best 20 restaurants in 2024. And they did this cool video about the restaurant, which is what prompted us to add it to our Charleston list.

The restaurant is located in kind of obscure part of town with nothing really around it – but it is 100% worth the visit.

The bartender tolerated my camera equipment – which indicated I’m not the only blogger who has checked this place out for the photos.

Side note: It’s always the awkward balance of trying to be in the moment v capturing the moment. Don’t touch your food until I’ve snapped photos and taken a quick video of your dish!! UGH. But… aren’t the photos so pretty?!

The chef is competing in Top Chef, so we’ll see more of him in the future South Carolina food scene.

Every single dish we tried was phenomenal. The ribs were our favorite. Also the shrimp sliders. We sat at the bar and just ordered a bunch of dishes and had a blast.

If you’re visiting Charelston, you need to add King BBQ on your list to be a cool foodie who’s been there.
