📒 Part of our Guide to Dublin, Ireland
Why go: Thirty minutes from Dublin and it feels like a different country — which is exactly the point. Howth (rhymes with “both”) is the coastal escape the city doesn’t advertise enough, and this tour is the best way to see it. A local guide, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Missy, cliff walks, Irish seals, a 700-year-old castle, ruins of a 1042 abbey, and a complimentary pint at the end. The cliffs are optional — go as far as you want and turn back when you’re ready. After the tour, walk the main drag along the harbor and order the fresh salmon and oysters with a crisp white.
