I’m a bookworm. I was probably categorized as a nerd, dork, dweeb in middle school while I was reading The Hobbit and Christopher Pike fiction. I would have been mortified by those titles. Today, I embrace it. Yes, I LOVE to read.

Do I read intelligent fiction and nonfiction?

No. I read mostly trash.

But reading is my favorite hobby and I am fine with it being nerdy but maybe a cool kind of nerdy. As I’ve gotten older, I think the coolest people are the smartest people.

City Lights Bookstore is for people like us – people who love to read. People that get excited about picking up a book even though we’re usually locked in to a screen – and just appreciate words. Authors. Words written by humans. Thoughts, feelings, emotions, perspectives framed through stories – books give us the imagination we need to make the world a better place for the humans that live in it.

And City Lights Bookstore is a colorful, cool beacon for all of us who grew up with their nose in a book.

It’s a must-stop while you’re walking around North Beach in San Fran – and you can head to Golden Sardine for a glass of wine after you pick out a book.

I got a t-shirt and love to wear it. Plus a book and a bookmark. Yay books.
