When we travel, we love a guided tour of a museum – or any guided tour, really. The guides are the experts and can not only take you to the highlights and share the significance and history of what you’re looking at – plus, walk you to where you want to go. For someone who is directionally challenged who can get lost in a parking lot… this is a big perk!

where we’ve gone before: We’ve done guided tours of the Louvre, the Musee d’Orsay, and now the British Museum and I can say emphatically that it makes a huge difference in the experience.

what we loved: first, you need a timed ticket to get into the museum. once you’re in the museum, you’ll be overwhelmed which is why we loved having a guide show us where to go and explain what is significant. our guide, James, was fantastic sharing the history of the British Museum’s collection – significance of the collection, the drama behind it, and the historical artifacts themselves. The British Museum has some significant international artifacts in their collection like the Rosetta Stone and half of the Parthenon that make this a museum you’ll want to visit when you’re in London.

how to book: We book these through our favorite app, Get Your Guide, which has a website and an app, keeps all of your tickets and tours organized, and lets you browse reviews.
