yes it’s touristy, but you can’t visit SF without taking the ferry to tour Alcatraz. the trip is worth it.

Why you should go: because it’s ALCATRAZ. The audio tour is extremely well done with different narrators – including former prison guards and a podcaster! – educational and entertaining. The gardens are beautiful and the views of the city are spectacular. This historic, infamous prison is worth spending a few hours visiting.
Our Tip: take the first ferry out, you won’t regret it. You’ll show up to the island empty, so it’s more peaceful and less crowded.
