Wente Wines + Summer Garden Bites
The ultimate summer wine pairing menu — garden-fresh bites and Wente wines.
If you’ve ever been to a Butter + Whisk wine tasting, you know that Chef Lindsey creates special, memorable events. This fresh summer garden menu showcased Wente Wines paired with fresh garden-inspired bites.

Wente is California’s oldest continuously operated family winery, still growing grapes in Livermore Valley on land the family has farmed since 1883. We visited Wente Viney in Livermore Valleyards a few years ago and loved our experience learning about this family-owned winery.
Here are the garden bites paired with Wente wines:

Wente Morning Fog Chardonnay // Apple + Brie + Honey
The Chardonnay opened the evening and the pairing was exactly right. The apple slice topped with brie and drizzled with honey is the perfect light bite for summer – and pretty!

Wente Riva Ranch Pinot Noir // Fresh Salad with Lemon Champagne Vinaigrette
Pinot with a bright, acidic salad is a pairing that works because neither one is trying to dominate. The lemon champagne vinaigrette with the pretty greens might be the perfect summer salad.

Wente Mount Diablo Highlands Red Blend // Make-Your-Own Butter Station
This was the best idea. Bread and butter – but make it fancy and an activity. Fresh bread, soft butter, herbs in pretty pots, roasted garlic — build it yourself, spread it on, drink the smooth red alongside. The interactive element made it the most memorable station of the night. And who doesn’t love bread and butter?

Wente Sandstone Merlot // Fig + Prosciutto Flatbread
Fig and Merlot is a reliable combination for a reason — the sweet fig combined with the salty prosciutto and the crunch of the flatbread calls for a mellow red wine. This is an easy combo for a flatbread + wine night at home.

Wente nth Degree Cabernet Sauvignon // Steak Bites
The evening closed with the Nth Degree Cab — Wente’s flagship red — and steak bites, which is the right call for a wine at this level. You can’t go wrong with a well-seasoned steak and a fancy Cab!
Cheers!
