Day Date: a date in the daylight, includes wine with a fancy salad or sandwich
I love a good day date, don’t you? A few years ago, my husband and I visited Napa and Sonoma, and our lunch dates were more casual with lighter foods (fresh green salads! Sandwiches on crusty baguettes! Cheese and almonds!) with a glass of white wine. We agreed our less-fancy lunches surprisingly were our favorites on our last trip. I can’t pinpoint the exact reason why: they are unplanned? The food is different than what we usually pair with wine? The sun is still shining? It could be the funny memory of our artichoke mishap at Farmstead in Napa or the time we discovered the best ravioli in the universe.
At home, day dates are less of a commitment than an evening out, and easier to find a sitter for a few hours in the middle of the day. It’s a great way to sneak in some time alone on a weekend!
Dry Creek Chardonnay is fantastic pick for a day date – pair it with a fancy salad, sunshine, chill music, good conversation, and an afternoon with your love ❤
