Have you watched the insane first grade drama in Monterey?
But, the one question that can be answered prior to the show’s finale is: what wine should you drink?
Let’s break it down by character. Who are you most like?
If you’re gritty like Madeline
Reese Witherspoon
Tailored with a little grit: Open a bottle of the Chateau Ste Michelle Cold Creek Cab for a refined yet rustic bold red glass of wine to sip as the presumably murderous Trivia Night episode unfolds.
If you’re more reserved like Celeste
Nicole Kidman
Balanced and smooth: Toast to the finale with the Beringer Private Reserve Chardonnay, an impossibly smooth Chardonnay that is as masterful as Celeste’s handling of the puppet situation with the mayor and Renata. Getting all to agree that the play was the thing is the epitome of the best of Celeste: her brilliant mind is matched by her ability to coolly handle people at just the right temperature (for Chardonnay, that’s 55 degrees.)
If you’re mysterious like Jane
Shailene Woodley
Cool and understated: Why is she in Monterey? Is she telling Celeste and Madeline the full story over coffee? It’s murky. Just like the price point of the Seven Falls Cabernet, which is less than $20 and tastes like a $35 bottle of wine. Just roll with it and like it.
If you’re an overachiever like Renata
Laura Dern
Precise yet surprising: Just when you peg her as a cold-hearted, unyielding, obstinate witch-woman with zero flexibility, she is surprisingly rational and reasonable when Jane visits with her – and the two have an open and constructive conversation. It’s obvious why she is effective in business: she’s not a bulldozer, she’s a collaborator. Pop open a bottle of the fancy Domaine Chandon Etoile Rosè for a balanced and effervescent (but not sweet) treat in your champagne flute.
