Fujifilm X100VI On the Go: Real Photos From Everyday Life + Travel

The Fujifilm X100VI has become my everyday camera — the one I reach for whether I’m exploring Myrtle Beach, traveling with my family, or photographing food and wine for Good Taste Guide. If you’re researching this camera, here’s a sample gallery of my favorite photos (plus the accessories I never leave home without).

Now for the love story.

I’ve always had a complicated relationship with camera gear. I want to capture the moment and stay present, which means I don’t want to haul a full kit everywhere I go. And yet… I love beautiful images.

I drive myself a little crazy trying to balance bringing allllll the camera gear while also wanting to pack light. I want to capture the moment and be in the moment. My dining companions know not to touch their food until I’ve taken a few photos, but I don’t stage elaborate shots or spend time fussing. I want simple, intuitive, beautiful.

The X100 series is my sweet spot. I’ve tried swapping it for “serious” cameras, and every time, I come running back. It’s compact. It’s effortless. It produces gorgeous images without weighing me down. I’ve sold versions of it to try “serious” cameras with interchangeable lenses… and none make me as happy as this one.

The X100VI was sold out everywhere, so I assumed I’d never get my hands on one — especially with a few big trips coming up. I was spiraling about which cameras to pack (I know… it’s a whole thing), and then my husband surprised me with it.

“HOW DID YOU GET THIS?!”
Turns out he called Adorama, explained his wife’s camera eccentricities, and somehow they made it happen.

And yes, I’m completely in love.

Reggie’s Portra Film Simulation + Shortstache Filter Samples

These were taken in Italy… a beautiful place to photograph! I edited these a little bit. I do NOT like to spend a whole lot of time in editing. I usually use a colorful + clean Lightroom presets or just auto. The Shortstache everyday filter by PolarPro gives it that dreamy, glowy look. Reggie’s Portra Film Recipe is my favorite… and I have really just

Travel Photos: Italy, San Francisco, Paris, New York

I put this camera in a sling or my handbag and take it everywhere. I have the Peak design straps and have the wrist one and the one around my neck. It’s small enough I don’t feel too ridiculous taking it out at a restaurant or on the go!

Food & Wine Photography: Myrtle Beach Restaurants

These were taken at Butter + Whisk in North Myrtle Beach, one of the best spots for foodies in the Grand Strand!

New York, New York

What a fun camera to snap photos of this cool city!

If you’re going to San Francisco… photo gallery

We had the best time snapping photos all over San Francisco! I used the Fuji x100vi for video too – along with the Osmo Pocket 3. here’s the San Francisco video on YouTube to see!

Paris

I carried the Fuji with me everywhere in Paris in either my sling or my Kate Spade crossbody bag… and a lot of times just had it around my neck, figuring I looked like a tourist anyway lol.

Low-Light & Indoor Photos (Bars, Tastings, Restaurants)

Here are some recent photos of NEAT Bourbon Bar in Myrtle Beach, which is a cozy, dimly spot – the PolarPro filter adds that pretty bloom to the lights giving it a dreamy look. I edited these a little bit in Lightroom.

I love this photo – it was pretty dark but the lights at the top give it a cool look. I didn’t edit this one, it’s what they call SOOC (straight out of the camera.)

Why I Love the X100VI

the best camera is the one with you

There are many reasons to love this camera… here are a few:

  • portability: it’s so easy to keep in my bag, wherever I go
  • color: Fuji colors are incredible
  • design: it’s like a designer accessory, the camera is so vintage and pretty
  • great for travel: it’s fun for snapshots while not taking away from the moment
  • great for food photos: the colors! The sharpness! and you can take photos in low light in restaurants
  • great for everyday memories: the best camera is the one with you… and because you can take this everywhere, you’ll have it with you.

Fuji x100VI

A photographer’s cult favorite camera. The Fuji x100vi is my travel + everyday camera. I usually have it with me in my bag. Fuji x100vi’s retro look, manual dials, film simulations, make this camera a JOY to use. I love it for video, too – although it is definitely built to be more for photography.

I keep the PolarPro Shortstache Everyday filter on it + use Reggie’s Portra film recipe for pretty, cinematic, a little vintage-y look.
