Columbia, SC is a fun foodie town with plenty to do! It’s the capital city of South Carolina, and home to the University of South Carolina, so you’ll find lots of events, shops, and restaurant that cater not only to the locals but all of the visitors that frequent the town.
Travel time from Myrtle Beach: 2.5- 3 hours (could be longer if you stop by Buc-ees!)
Every Saturday, the Soda City Market pops up downtown – and it’s so much fun, you can plan a trip around it! We like to stay in the downtown Marriott so you’re steps away from the market in the morning.
Kids love Riverbanks Zoo, and they also have fun events throughout the year (like the wine tasting!) for adults.
Winter things to do in Columbia
- Try a magical breakfast sandwich from Devine Cinnamon Roll Deli.
- Spend the afternoon strolling through Riverbanks Zoo – you’ll practically have it to yourself! This past weekend, some of the animals were inside due to the cold, but the zoo lacked the crowds you’ll usually experience in warmer months. (Lorikeet feeding is a blast for kids!)
- Order the smoked chicken wings and play games at Transmission Arcade (fun for kids!)
- Groups will love the challenge of an Escapology Escape Room.
- The whole family will love pizza at the Village Idiot – order the dirty bone sauce!!
